~the new Expresso bikes at the Y. Exercise is almost fun.

~one of my favorite early signs of spring — roadside daffodils.

No, I didn’t do a Thankful Thursday last week even though everyone else in the world seemed to. I was going to change the format a bit and go into detail about one thing I’m thankful for each week, but I think I’ve changed my mind about that. It’s easier for my lazy self to make a list.

Today I am thankful for:

~love in abundance.

~Pea spending a few days in Kentucky.

~Pea finally being home. It’s not quite right without her here.

~a lovely office Christmas dinner with David’s colleagues.

~my new freelance job (more on that to come.)

~trust.

~faith.

~family.

~choosing to spend “black Friday” our own way.

Today I am thankful for:

~generally possessing the patience required to parent a three year old. Not always, but most of the time.

~watching leaves fall end over end on a breezeless day.

~rearranging the furniture upstairs. Now we can watch TV without our asses touching the floor.

~David’s Death Cough being (mostly) gone.

~libraries.

Today I am thankful for:

~eight years(!) of marriage to a wonderful guy.

~a nice anniversary date celebrating said eight years.

~my mom’s weekend visit. Pea absolutely adores Granny and I think it might be mutual.

~surviving (and loving!) the first round of swimming lessons. I’m signing her up for more.

Today I am thankful for:

~getting to see so many aunts, uncles, cousins, etcetera in Florida. (Trip photos are slowly making their way to flickr. And SBFVS! updates will continue tomorrow, I promise!)

~Pea reminiscing about our trip. "Yesterday we ate at the fish restaurant with EVERYBODY!"

~our joyful reunion with David last Thursday. It was hard being away from him for even a few days.

~Pea asking me if butter comes from butterflies.

~our crazy poodles. I complain about them a lot, but I love them.

~spring.

~encouragement. Praise. I sort of thrive on these things.

~getting back into my exercise routine after being sidetracked by illness, injury, and travel.

~not letting the horror of wearing a swimsuit in public keep me from going to Pea’s first swimming lesson.

~Pea’s swimming lessons going smoothly.

~two years of this stupid blog. (No self-congratulatory blogiversary post this year, but only because I don’t have the time to do it. And have less to be self-congratulatory about.)

~Dad’s backyard. It never disappoints.

Today I am thankful for home. The SBFVS! lived up to its name, but all I want to do right now is get a wee bit of sleep in my bed, in my room, in my house.

Come back tomorrow for the first in a series of boring SBFVS! recaps. If you pay close attention you’ll learn Pea’s opinion about the beach.

thumbs up!

Oops, I gave it away.

~buying a belt for Pea and having her react like we had bought her a pony.

~grandparents taking care of Pea for the weekend so we could celebrate my birthday, Valentine’s Day, marriage, etcetera.

~Pea throwing her hands in the air at the end of a don’t-touch-me, don’t-talk-to-me, don’t-look-at me tantrum and saying, "now I’m ready for some love!"

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

Today I am thankful for:

~a child who vomits very infrequently.

~spending my birthday and Valentine’s Day with dear David for the tenth year in a row. Ten!

~David and Pea singing to me together yesterday morning. My heart melted a little bit.

~birthday gifts and cards and calls and tweets and emails and such. It always makes me really happy when my brother calls me, so that may have been the best one.

~chicken saag and onion naan.

~David’s coworker calling him at home Sunday morning and being very sweet and apologetic to me. It’s not at all unusual for people to bug him about work things outside of his long work hours, but I’m not sure they consider that they’re taking away from his Sunday morning, much less the rest of our family’s. It was very refreshing.

~my parents and David’s parents being such wonderful grandparents.

~fresh flowers two days in a row. A nice perk to an almost-Valentine’s Day birthday.

~having fun making cards with Pea.

~a few minutes with David whenever I can get them.

~a few minutes to myself whenever I can get them.

~last week’s mouse count doubling, with most of the additions being caught in the garage.

~news that my stepsister is getting married. Hopes that I may get to go to San Francisco for a wedding, whenever the time comes.

~birthday money. Not sure if I’ll put it toward a new camera or new plates for the kitchen. Hmm.

~birthday snow!

~a daughter who inspires me, even on bad days.
